Overview: the city has been actively developing the downstreamsupporting industries relatedwithsteel by depending on the local deep-water port and the steel plant investment of Shanghai Baosteel Group Corporation in Zhanjiang with the productioncapacityof over tenmilliontonsof steel per year. Zhanjianghase stablished the wind power equipment manufacturing base in the new area of Donghai Island, Zhanjiang Economic and Technology Development Zone in order to seek opportunities for further development. Currently 500 acres of land have been plannedfor theproject.
